Shubman Gill Becomes 9th Batsman to record a ODI Double Hundred and the 5th Indian Batsman to score a 200's in ODI format of the game. India Vs. New Zealand First ODI
Shubman Gill created a world record for himself on this Wednesday (Today - 18/01/23), by scoring a double hundred 200 (208*) against New Zealand in the first match of ODI Series, 2023. He also became the 9th Batter in the lists of Men's Batsman in ODI Series to score a double hundred and the 5th Batsman from India, after Sachin Tendulkar, Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan, Virender Sehwag. This innings was an epic by right handed Shubman Gill. He is the youngest player in the world to score a Double Hundred in Men's ODI, even from India, he is the youngest to score this milestone, for information Ishan Kishan is also elder to him in age. This Innings came against the International Men's Cricket team of New Zealand.
He was the opener in this match, he played an opening innings of 208 runs from 149 balls, with 28 boundaries in total, with 19 fours and Nine 6's (Maximums). It was the highest score in the innings, the next highest score followed by was only 34 runs. His innings led India to a score of 349/8, with 2 wickets in hand.
Shubman Gill played an accelerated innings after scoring first his Half Century (50), in 52 balls, which is quite slow. But from 50 to 100, he went just in 35 balls, and that was pretty fast. Samely, again, from 100 to 150 he took another 35 balls to score. Finally from 150 runs to 200 runs he played with full acceleration and took 23 balls to reach the world record milestone, passing the score of 200, i.e Double Century. Its a matter of pride for India, being the youngest in the list!.
However, India’s limited-overs captain Rohit Sharma still holds the record for the highest individual score in a full men’s ODI with his 264 against Sri Lanka in 2014. Also, Rohit Sharma is the only player to have reached a double-hundred more than once in the format, with three to his name – the others against Australia in 2013 (209) and versus Sri Lanka in 2017 (208*).
