A short discussion about IPL ;
The Indian Premier League (IPL), also known as TATA IPL for sponsorship reasons, is a men's T20 franchise cricket league of India. It is annually contested by ten teams based out of seven Indian cities and three Indian states.The league was founded by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in 2007. The IPL is the most-attended cricket league in the world and in 2014 was ranked sixth by average attendance among all sports leagues. The brand value of the IPL in 2022 was ₹90,038 crore (US$11 billion). According to BCCI, the 2015 IPL season contributed ₹1,150 crore (US$140 million) to the GDP of the Indian economy So far there have been fifteen seasons of the IPL tournament. The current IPL title holder franchise is Gujarat Titans, winning the 2022 season and their first season.
TATA IPL PLAYERS' AUCTION 2022 :
There are a total of 10 Teams playing, Gujarat Titans (GT) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) being the newly added 2 teams who were added in 2022 Edition of The IPL.
Each team can have a total of 25 Players and 2023 IPL Players' Auction is a Mini Auction i.e all the team will release a limited numbers of players and will have limited slots and purse money.
There a total of 10 franchises to put their thinking caps on in the Mini Auction this time. The TATA IPL 2023 Player Auction will be held in Kochi. A total of 405 players are set to go under the hammer on 23rd December. 273 are Indians, 132 are overseas players of which 4 players are from associate nations. INR 2 crore is the highest reserve price with 19 overseas players choosing to be slotted in the highest bracket. 11 players are in the auction list with a base price of INR 1.5 crore. Manish Pandey and Mayank Agarwal are the two Indian players in the list of 20 cricketers with a base price of INR 1 crore. A total of 87 available slots, up to 30 being slotted for overseas players. Big Names like Sam Curran, Ben Stokes, Kane Williamson, Cameron Green, Jason Holder, Joe Root, Jason Roy, Van Der Dussen, Chris Lynn, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Sandeep Sharma, Shivam Mavi etc. are to be auctioned. Total of 87 slots were to be filled but a total of Rs.167 Crores were spent buying players altogether by all the franchises.
The highest bid and the top buy was England's All-rounder and ex-csk player SAM CURRAN, who recorded to be the highest paid buy ever in the IPL Auction, PUNJAB KINGS bought him for 18.50 CR
